Stake FXRP
Stake FXRP to back DeFi cover on Flare
Staking FXRP deposits it into the Firelight Vault to back DeFi cover, and you receive stXRP, a token that represents your position and earns a share of protocol emissions.
What staking FXRP means
Staking FXRP means depositing it into the Firelight Vault on Flare, where it provides the capital that backs DeFi cover. You receive stXRP, a token that represents your staked position, and a share of protocol emissions streamed in FXRP. In return, your deposit is subject to slashing, and exits take time because deposits back 30-day cover periods. Firelight Cover is not insurance.
Before you start
- XRP in a supported XRPL wallet, in which case Flare Smart Accounts mints FXRP and deposits it into the Firelight Vault in one flow. Or FXRP already in your wallet, either minted by depositing XRP or acquired on a Flare decentralized exchange.
- Depositing through Flare Smart Accounts requires no FLR, and fees are charged in FXRP. If you deposit FXRP directly, you need a Flare-compatible wallet holding that FXRP and a small amount of FLR for transaction fees.
- No minimum stake amount is published by Firelight. Aggregate staked positions are capped, so deposits may be limited when the cap is reached.
- An understanding that staked deposits back DeFi cover and are subject to slashing, and that Firelight is an independent protocol, not part of Flare or the FAssets protocol directly, with its own staking and unstaking terms.
How to stake FXRP, step by step
- Open Flare Smart Accounts at fsa.flare.network, making sure you are on its official site, and connect a supported XRPL wallet.
- Select the Firelight vault and choose mint and deposit.
- Enter the amount of XRP you want to deposit.
- Confirm the deposit with a single signature from your XRPL wallet.
- Wait while the Flare Data Connector verifies your XRP transaction, FAssets mints FXRP 1:1 and the FXRP is staked into Firelight.
- Confirm that stXRP has been credited to your Flare smart account, which is linked to your XRPL address and controlled only by that address.
- Track your staked position through Firelight at any time.
Where to stake FXRP
Firelight is the only staking venue for FXRP today, and you can reach the Firelight Vault two ways: through Flare Smart Accounts if you are starting from XRP, or directly through Firelight if you already hold FXRP. Both lead to the same vault, and neither is recommended over the other. If other staking protocols for FXRP launch, this page will list them alongside these.
- Flare Smart Accounts
Start from XRP alone: connect a supported XRPL wallet, select the Firelight vault and choose mint and deposit. FXRP is minted and staked in one flow, with no FLR required.
- Firelight
Already hold FXRP? Deposit it into the Firelight Vault directly and receive stXRP. Technical documentation is available at docs.firelight.finance.
Timing, fees and limits
Firelight sets its own staking and unstaking terms. The unstaking window grows as cover is enabled, to match 30-day cover periods, so check the Firelight app for the current period before you deposit.
| Minimum stake amount | None published by Firelight. Aggregate staked positions are capped, so check Firelight for current capacity. |
|---|---|
| Unstaking period | Set by Firelight and lengthening as cover is enabled, to match 30-day cover periods. Check the Firelight app for the current window. |
| Fees | Depositing through Flare Smart Accounts requires no FLR, and fees are charged in FXRP. A direct FXRP deposit requires a small amount of FLR for gas. |
| Earnings | A share of protocol emissions, streamed in FXRP. Live rates are on Flare DeFi. |
What to watch out for when staking
Firelight Cover is not insurance. Staking means taking on risk so that depositors in covered vaults are protected, so your deposit backs cover, has no cover of its own and is subject to slashing. Rewards carry the same risk: compounded rewards stay in the vault, so slashing applies to them as it does to your original deposit. Exits take time, because deposits back 30-day cover periods and the unstaking window grows as cover is enabled. Capacity is capped, so deposits may be limited. Each layer carries contract risk: depositing through Flare Smart Accounts relies on the Flare Smart Accounts, FAssets and Firelight contracts, and audits and monitoring reduce that risk without removing it. Read Firelight’s docs before you deposit.
What to do next
- Don’t have FXRP yet? Mint FXRP first by depositing XRP, or start from XRP alone through Flare Smart Accounts.
- Read about stXRP to understand what your staked position represents and how it is redeemed.
- See how staking fits into XRPFi alongside the other ways to use FXRP across Flare DeFi.
- Review Firelight’s docs for the current unstaking period and covered events before you stake, so you know what to expect when you exit.
