XRPFi
What is XRPFi?
XRPFi is the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem on Flare. Mint FXRP from your XRPL wallet, then lend, borrow, trade, stake or earn yield on FXRP across Flare DeFi.
Understanding XRPFi
XRPFi is the first large-scale use of Flare as a programmable layer for assets from chains without smart contracts. FXRP, issued by the FAssets protocol, brings XRP onto Flare, where it can be lent, borrowed, posted as collateral, supplied as liquidity or placed in yield vaults. The live opportunities and a guide for each step sit at xrpfi.flare.network.
XRPFi is a set of applications on Flare, not a separate blockchain or a single token. Each strategy runs on an application built independently on Flare, with its own terms and risks.
Using XRPFi starts with minting or acquiring FXRP, then choosing how to use it: trading, lending, supplying liquidity, or a yield vault. None of these actions require selling XRP outright or leaving it idle. The underlying XRP stays redeemable throughout.
Why XRPFi exists
XRPFi exists so XRP holders can borrow against XRP and earn on it without selling it. XRPL issues and settles XRP at scale but does not run smart contracts. Flare adds the programmable layer, with data verification built into its consensus.
Flare and independent teams built XRPFi in sequence. FAssets came first, then lending and liquidity markets, then yield vaults, then Flare Smart Accounts to connect those vaults to the XRPL wallets holders already use. Direct minting with destination tags followed, so exchanges and custodians could integrate FXRP through the withdrawal flows they already run.
XRPFi lists these applications at xrpfi.flare.network and maps the path from minting FXRP to redeeming it. Each listed protocol keeps running independently.
How XRPFi works
XRPFi works in six steps on Flare, from minting FXRP to redeeming it back to XRP on XRPL. Each step is a separate onchain action. For depositing into vaults, Flare Smart Accounts combine steps 1 to 3 into one signature from a supported XRPL wallet such as Xaman or D’CENT.
- You initiate bridging by sending a transaction from your XRPL wallet, or from an exchange or custodian that supports destination tags. A reserved destination tag or a memo sets the Flare address that receives FXRP; with neither, FXRP goes to your Flare smart account. The Flare Data Connector verifies the XRPL payment and an executor completes the mint on Flare.
- You hold FXRP as an ERC-20 token on Flare, with the XRP behind it held on XRPL.
- You choose a strategy: trade FXRP on a decentralized exchange, supply it as liquidity, use it as collateral for lending, or stake it to the Firelight protocol as stXRP to back onchain cover.
- You manage your positions through each protocol’s own interface. XRPFi does not hold funds or run strategies itself.
- You browse live XRPFi opportunities across Flare at xrpfi.flare.network.
- You redeem FXRP back to XRP through the FAssets protocol whenever you want to exit, reversing the original minting step.
How XRPFi relates to Flare and the XRP Ledger
XRPL is where XRP is issued and moved. Flare is where XRP becomes programmable.
FAssets is the system that connects those roles. FXRP is the first live FAsset: a 1:1 representation of XRP on Flare, designed to make XRP usable across EVM DeFi while remaining connected to XRPL as the native asset and settlement layer. FAssets are designed to support redemption back to the underlying asset on its native network.
FXRP and stXRP are what carry XRP’s value onto Flare, and XRPFi is where using them becomes possible.
Flare Smart Accounts connect XRPFi to XRPL wallets such as Xaman, D’CENT and Bifrost, so holders reach Flare applications with one XRPL signature.
Flare is the blockchain for data, and XRPFi runs on two protocols built into its consensus. The Flare Data Connector proves the XRPL payment behind each mint. The Flare Time Series Oracle prices the collateral that backs redemption.
What you can do with XRPFi
- Learn what FXRP is and how minting it works.
- Mint FXRP from an XRPL wallet, or from an exchange or custodian withdrawal with a reserved destination tag.
- Stake FXRP to receive liquid stXRP, which remains usable across Flare while helping protect DeFi protocols from exploits.
- Trade, lend, or supply liquidity with FXRP and stXRP across Flare DeFi.
- Enter yield vaults with different risk profiles using Flare Smart Accounts.
